Shortest Path Analysis in Social Graphs

چکیده
The shortest path problem is among the most fundamental combinatorial optimization problems to answer reachability queries. It is hard to determine which vertices or edges are visited during shortest path traversals. In this paper, we provide an empirical analysis on how traversal algorithms behave on social networks. First, we compute the shortest paths between set of vertices. Each shortest path is considered as one transaction. Second, we utilize the pattern mining approach to identify the frequency of occurrence of the vertices. We evaluate the results in terms of network properties, i.e. degree distribution, clustering coefficient.

Efficient Shortest Paths on Massive Social Graphs (Invited Paper)
Analysis of large networks is a critical component of many of today’s application environments, including online social networks, protein interactions in biological networks, and Internet traffic analysis. The arrival of massive network graphs with hundreds of millions of nodes, e.g. social graphs, presents a unique challenge to graph analysis applications. Most of these applications rely on co...

متن کاملOrion: Shortest Path Estimation for Large Social Graphs
Through measurements, researchers continue to produce large social graphs that capture relationships, transactions, and social interactions between users. Efficient analysis of these graphs requires algorithms that scale well with graph size. We examine node distance computation, a critical primitive in graph problems such as computing node separation, centrality computation, mutual friend dete...
متن کاملAtlas: Approximating Shortest Paths in Social Graphs
The search for shortest paths is an essential primitive for a variety of graph-based applications, particularly those on online social networks. For example, LinkedIn users perform queries to find the shortest path “social links” connecting them to a particular user to facilitate introductions. This type of graph query is challenging for moderately sized graphs, but becomes computationally intr...
متن کاملImprovement of path analysis algorithm in social networks based on HBase
When social network has reached hundreds of million users, the analysis of data in social network services becomes very important. Understanding how nodes interconnect in large graphs is an essential problem in many fields. In order to find connecting nodes between two nodes or two groups of source nodes in huge graphs, we propose a parallelized data-mining algorithm to get the shortest path be...
